So you’ve won the lottery…now what? So many questions to answer and so many things you can do with your winnings—vacation, new car, big screen TV? Do you tell people?
And the big question is…do you continue working?
Well according to a survey of 2,800 professionals conducted by Beyond.com, 84 percent said that they would remain a wage earner, which is a pretty impressive for just hitting the jackpot. It seems more likely that the majority of lottery winners would rather quit their jobs to pursue their dreams or travel, rather than remain in the working world.
Of those who said they would continue working, 41.1 percent expressed an interest in starting their own business, 17.9 percent said they would remain at their current place of employment and 25.6 percent said they would work part-time.
The reason for so many budding entrepreneurs-now with the concern of financial security behind them, these professionals have the freedom to pursue their interests and other avenues such as starting their own business and becoming their own boss.
According to BusinessKnowHow.com, new businesses have a 50-50 chance of surviving more than five years. However frightening this statistic may be, it doesn’t seem as troublesome when you have nothing to loose. Considering the chances of winning the lottery are unlikely, many winners think of their winnings as found money—which removes some of the risk of starting their own businesses.
Whether you become an overnight millionaire or do things the old fashioned way to make the transition from employee to employer—the feeling of accomplishment when you succeed will be extraordinary regardless of the path you travel.
So its time to ask yourself, what would you do if you won the lottery?
