According to the Jobs Report released today from the Bureau of Labor Statistics employers added 162,000 jobs in March 2010 and the unemployment rate has held steady for the third consecutive month at 9.7%.
So how do some of these new jobs breakdown? Well 48,000 Federal jobs are a result of temporary hires for the 2010 Census, 15,000 jobs were added in the Construction industry which is the first increase in this sector since 2007, Manufacturing added 17,000 jobs mostly in fabricated metal products and machinery, Healthcare continued to increase by adding 27,000 jobs in March, Retailers added 15,000, and the Hospitality sector added 22,000.
